A New Missouri National Champion
This past weekend at the 2012 National Marathon Championships in Milwaukee, Ty Fidler won both the 25K and the 50K Marathon race for Senior (19 - 29) Division to earn his first National title. Ty had the fastest overall time of 1:30.58 for the 50K by 1min & 19sec. He also had the second fastest overall time for the 25K. Ty becomes our first National Champion at the Marathon distances. Congratulations Ty!

Missouri was well represented this past weekend at the World Cup Long Track meet in Hamar, Norway and the North American Long Track meet in Calgary. Patrick Meek skated to a 10th place finish in the Group B 5000M race in Hamar, Norway and will compete in the World Allround Speedskating Championships this coming weekend in Russia. Good luck Pat! Matt Plummer skated at the North American Long Track meet in Calgary in the 500M and the 1000M. He was the top USA skater in the 500M finishing 5th overall. Matt had MOSA's logo on his skin for this meet – his way of saying thanks to MOSA for supporting him this season. Thanks Matt and keep pushin'!

Looking for an exciting family-friendly activity for next weekend February 4-5? Come to the 86th Annual Silver Skates speed skating meet at Queeny Park Ice Rink (550 Weidman Road, Ballwin, MO 63011-4426) and watch speed skaters from several surrounding states compete. Saturday racing: 10am – 5pm / Sunday: 9am – 3pm. This event is free to the public. The rink is indoors, but dress warm because it gets a little chilly!

This year's US Junior Short Track Championships were originally scheduled for Pittsburgh, but due to unfortunate circumstances, had to be moved with less than two months before the event. Several clubs in the Washington DC area banned together to tackle the task of hosting the Junior Championships January 27-29, but with only a few weeks left to prepare, they are asking for support....
